Sep 23   -  The Gulf Coast Daylily, speaker: Everett Crainer

 Daylily gardeners are happier people!  They have more energy and zest for life waiting for the new bloom season.  Daylilies are dreams waiting to be lived!  Everett Crainer hybridizes daylilies on his farm in Brazoria County, and includes "Gulf Coast" as part of their registered names, such as his 2016 introduction 'Gulf Coast Wave Catcher'.  He seeks out flowers with well-branched hardy scapes and fantastic foliage that do well in our weather to produce daylilies that thrive in our climate.  Join us to hear his expert advice on hybridizing.


Oct 28    -  CCDC Member Play Money Daylily Auction

2:00 - 4:00pm

 Members of the Cypress Creek Daylily Club will receive play money to participate in our annual daylily auction.  Our members will bid on more than 70 double bareroot fans.  These are exciting recent introductions from the Crainer and Joiner Daylily Gardens (see above images).

 Members of Cypress Creek Daylily Club are invited to participate in a celebration of the holiday season with a special meal and gift exchange.  If you wish to participate in the gift exchange, please bring a garden-themed gift valued at no more than $15.00.  A roast turkey and dressing are provided and guests should bring a side dish or dessert to share.  Show your holiday spirit and wear your Christmas sweater!




Jan 27  -  The Secret Life of Soil- Feed Your Soil and it Will Feed Your Plants!, speaker: Sherri Harrah of Plants For All Seasons

 Learn from a life-long Houston gardener the practical and natural way to build a strong and healthy foundation for your garden starting with the soil. Sherri Harrah’s father opened Plants For All Seasons in 1973. She grew up speaking the language and understanding the world of good gardening. Learn about the soil environment too small to see with the naked eye. Sherri will show how to create a sustainable soil foundation and describe how to feed it to support rich growth of your favorite plants in “all seasons”.

 Join us and learn from an expert herbalist all about planting, harvesting, cooking and creating with herbs, including making potpourri.  Learn how to compose an herbal potpourri and experience aroma therapy that will sooth the senses and calm your spirit. 


Mar 24  -  Organic  fertilizing & pest control, speaker: Marti Graves

 Healthy plants are better able to fend off bugs and disease.  Marti will share her garden know-how on soil amendments and plant protection.  Marti knows some great techniques for improving your garden that will be easy on the environment!  She will show us how to support strong plant growth with natural products that are safe and easy to use.

 Come hear a Harris County Master Gardener tell how gingers come in all sizes and shapes for our summer gardens.  Gingers know how to beat the heat.
